I lead the technical operations for the world’s largest soccer retailer, SOCCER.COM, and other retail sports e-commerce web sites operated by Sports Endeavors. I manage and direct all aspects of Information Technology operations service delivery. I work with my team across three sites to assure system availability, data security, and an excellent customer experience 24 x 365. I directly manage the IT operations team including hiring, securing training and writing performance reviews with full financial accountability for team. I also manage relationships with all hosting and technical service providers including contract negotiations and budgeting.  I provide technical leadership and management of IT projects from inception through post-deployment. I oversee enterprise IT security and PCI DSS compliance, creating and administering company IT security policies and procedures, overseeing compliance validation, and ensuring all security issues are addressed.  I am a CISSP® - Certified Information Systems Security Professional

I led the day-to-day online technical operations for SOCCER.COM and LACROSSE.COM, both owned by Sports Endeavors Inc. My team was responsible that customers be able to purchase securely online all available products 24 x 365.  Reporting to the Online Properties Creative Director, I worked closely with the Online Development Manager to assure system availability and an excellent customer experience. I directly managed the database administrators and operations team including securing training and writing performance reviews.  I was also hands-on at architecting and developing e-commerce solutions as well as monitoring and troubleshooting their performance. I also directed and oversaw all internal systems used by our division as well as those maintained by our hosting provider that power our online presence.

  • Achievements
    •  I architected, negotiated with vendors and over-saw implementation of new virtualized online production, test and development environments increasing fault-tolerance, scalability and performance to be ready for the 40% growth of business due to 2010 World Cup. My plan reduced yearly hosting costs by 20% yet added redundant and high-availability components to support our 15% a year sales growth.
    • Major projects during my tenure for which I was Project Manager include adding Endeca search and navigation to all websites, implementing Tealeaf Technologies customer experience monitoring software, OS and SQL Server migrations, rolling out VMware ESX virtualization and leading the PlayerPASS program to convert club players to regular customers. My team has implemented all projects on the dates promised with minimal downtime.
    • I created a Crisis Management system to manage and escalate serious online problems.  I introduced online system uptime metrics, improving total uptime and availability while decreasing unscheduled downtime each quarter.  
    •  I led the development and implementation of policies and procedures for PCI DSS compliance.

Fleming Clothing was a custom-made children’s clothing company designing and manufacturing clothes in North Carolina. Started by my wife, Fleming, and me in 2010, Fleming Clothing allowed customers to choose custom designs and fabric combinations to create clothes as unique as the kids who wear them. My wife designed the clothing and managed our design and production studio located in Knightdale, NC.

  • Achievements
  •  I designed, project managed and implemented the e-commerce site FlemingClothing.com with a small team using Magento, PHP and ImageMagick to allow customers to create and place orders for original children’s clothes.
  • I integrated inventory and fulfillment systems with the Magento admin interface as well as reorganized the packing and shipping processes to reduce overhead by 60%.
